Paths to Research Advocacy Registration Form

We invite you to join us for the fourth “Paths to Research Advocacy” event, a recurring series of interviews with experienced research advocates and scientists about their journeys to ovarian cancer research advocacy. The event will include a brief structured interview followed by an informal question and answer session.
The free virtual event will be held on Tuesday, November 18th from 5-6pm Eastern (2-3pm Pacific).
Our guest speakers will be ovarian cancer advocates Anna Hedden and Rachel Miller-Garcia, who will be interviewed by Kristin Anderson, PhD.
Anna Hedden serves on the Advocate Advisory Council for the Powell-Drescher Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, is a Legislative Advocate Leader with the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), and a patient advocate on a Cancer Grand Challenges team. She is a recipient of multiple advocacy scholarship awards, recognized by the DoD Ovarian Cancer Academy, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), and Conquer Cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Foundation. Her work has contributed to national policy efforts, including the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act, and continues to advance patient-centered research, communication, and care.
Rachel Miller-Garcia is a Patient & Legislative Advocate for OCRA and Society for Gynecologic Oncology (SGO). She serves on the SGO Legislative Affairs Committee, is an OCRA Survivors Teaching Students Facilitator, and a research grant reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs’ Ovarian Cancer Research Program (CDMRP-OCRP). She is a marketing & advocacy advisor for biopharma companies and has been featured on several podcasts and media campaigns. Her engagement has impacted gynecologic cancer awareness and funding for research, prevention, and early detection programs.
Dr. Kristin Anderson leads a research lab at the University of Virginia. Her team uses cutting-edge genetic engineering technology to generate immune "T" cells with the ability to effectively recognize and kill ovarian cancer. The goal of her research program is to develop effective immune-based therapies for ovarian cancer patients.
